Safety Tips
Safety Tips
We encourage you to be cautious while
interacting with strangers. Meeting new dates can be fun, but we advise you to
put your safety first. We know you can't control other people's actions, so if
you are exchanging first messages (meeting online) or meeting in person, here
are some safety tips to help you during your experience on Dilmilay:
·
Sending
money or sharing financial information is prohibited
Do not let your
feelings put you into trouble. Even if your date chats you for an emergency, do
not send money via wire transfer. This is because you can never trace or
reverse such transactions. Do not share financial information that could be
used to access your financial accounts.
·
Safeguard
your Personal Information
You can read
more about the type of personal information we collect about you on our
"privacy policy page." We encourage you not to share personal
information like your social security number, home/work address, your daily
routine activities, or your kid's information with people you do not know.
·
Remain
on the Platform
We
encourage all communications to be strictly on Dilmilay while still getting to
know your match.
·
Be
Cautious of Long Distance and Overseas Relationships
Be
careful of scammers or red flags. Those who ask for financial assistance
claiming they are stuck overseas whereas they are right in your country are
scammers. Also, those who do not want to meet in person or usually reject video
calls are red flags to watch out for.
·
Protect
Your Account
Use a
strong password and be careful when logging in from a public or shared
computer. Dilmilay will never send you an email requesting your password or
personal information. You are advised to disregard such email when received.
·
Report
all Suspicious and Offensive Behaviour
Any
behavior that deviates from what we have on our "Community
Guidelines" should be reported immediately. Block and report anyone that
crosses the line or violates our terms.
·
Never
be in a Rush
Ensure
that you know the person well before arranging for an in-person meeting or
chatting off Dilmilay. Do not be afraid to screen for any red flags and a
video call can be a useful screening tool here.
·
Meet
and Stay in Public
It is
suggested meeting in public places a few times to gain the trust of your
date. Never be pressurized to go to a private location, your date's home, or
your home. If such cases exist, end the date.
·
Inform
Family and Friends Ahead About your Plans
Wherever
and whenever you are going to meet your new dates, inform your people about it.
Keep your phone charged with your location every time.
·
Take
Charge of Your Transportation
When you
know how you arrived at the place, you can easily leave at your convenience. It
is good to have a ride-share app if you drive yourself or have a friend to pick
you up as a backup plan.
·
Keep
it Positive
Communication
is very important in dating. Not all match is going to be perfect for you or
meet your expectations. Therefore, it is a natural and healthy process to close
communications with matches, but if you do, please be polite and honest about
it.
·
Be
careful of URL Links in messages
This can
direct you to another platform other than Dilmilay. Be careful when you choose
to click on any URL links, and always use good judgment. These links might be
sent to phish users' login details in order to compromise their accounts.
External Resources for Help, Support or
Advice
Dilmilay
knows that no perfect or 100% method of risk prevention exists even if you
follow all these safety tips. If you've had a terrible experience with a match,
we would like you to report to provide the necessary help.
Report
any incident so that Dilmilay can take the appropriate action. If you are in
immediate danger, please call 911 (US or Canada) or the number of your local
emergency services.
